“Effectively Educating African American Males in the 21st Century”
Friday, April 24, 2009 Jackson Community College – Baughman Theatre
Sponsored by: Baker College, Jackson Community College, Spring Arbor University, Jackson Public Schools, South Central Michigan Works and Consumers Energy.
Dr. Kunjufu came to Jackson after having presented just about everywhere in the U.S. and many, many places internationally. He is recognized by numerous experts as the leading intellect on issues concerning young African American males. Dr. Kunjufu’s presentation offered broad insight concerning ways of increasing our effectiveness in working with African American males in areas ranging from academics, to the penal system, to family life, and to dealing with cultural impediments (like poverty, missing fathers, lack of role models, being raised in high crime areas, etc.).
The objective is to help increase the successes in the young African American male population in Jackson and to offer those who are working with them greater insight on how to achieve enhanced effectiveness.
